Caitlin Jones was the victim of sexual assault by a stranger her sophomore year of college. 3 years later, her testimony led to the conviction and sentencing of her attacker, a repeat offender against women.
Today, she is married with a son and two English Shepherds. Gaining degrees in Nursing and Public Health, she garnered her experience to drive education by studying animal therapy and service dogs. Through a career in health technology, Caitlin became a member of the National League for Nursing and American College of Healthcare Executives. In 2018, she founded a charitable organization for dogs with proceeds benefiting shelters in need.
Since publishing “What About a Dog?” organizations have expressed their interest in learning about her recovery. In 2020, Max was awarded “Hero Dog of The Year” by Canine Assistants, an Atlanta non-profit organization that is dedicated to educating people and dogs, specializing in placing people with service dogs.
As partner to Max, they are navigating his steps toward retirement. Max’s golden years are overflowing with endless sunbathing, togetherness, and unlimited treats.
By sharing her story, Caitlin hopes to inspire and raise awareness of animal healing for survivors of trauma. With a written book, she seeks to deeper explore the power of the dog, and hearts of those that love us.
